“All art intuitively apprehends coming changes in the collective unconsciousness.” -Carl Jung
Art both informs change and brings about change. It calls the subconscious mind forward, bringing ourselves into our own awareness. It is only when we are aware of something that we can bring about lasting change.
Art can clarify. Art can enlighten. Art can stir us into action. Art can free up stuck emotions. Art can free up stuck energy.
Art can be a game changer.
I wholeheartedly believe in the power of art. I’ve seen it with myself and with my clients. I will strongly encourage you to make art, but ultimately the choice is yours.
If you chose to follow the power of art with me, here is what you can expect:
There is no artistic skill required- This is not meant to be a framed artwork hanging in your house. This is for you and me, no one else ever has to see it.
Materials are simple- More often than not, you’ll have the materials in your home (paper, pencil, markers or crayons). If we decide to do more specific and targeted art therapy, and we only work virtually, you can either purchase an art pack from me or purchase what you want/need from any craft store.
Art therapy can be directive- I will give you a directive in which you will then draw a response. Some examples are- Draw your family as a garden; Using lines, shapes and colors, draw how you are feeling; Draw a door that leads to your solution. Alternatively, you can choose to draw anything you desire and we can discuss it.
YOU are still the most important part- Art itself is meaningless without verbal associations. Your artwork isn’t going to tell me something about you that you aren’t ready to share. I can’t analyze your artwork without YOU telling me about it.
